I have played 11 of the circa 20 courses on Maui and this one is by far my favorite. In a review I read it was said of the Emerald Course that it's the Gold Course's "pretty sister". I'd agree. It's the most beautiful course I've ever played and I've been on several hundred principally throughout the western U.S. There are flowers everywhere and landscaping that's unsurpassed. The course is a very fair test of golf. They have an excellent website complete with helicopter tours of the course at http://www.waileagolf.com. The staff are exceptional hitting you with ice-cold towels at the end of the round. And finally the view, food and libations at the on-course SeaWatch Restaurant after the round are quite good as well. The only dings are on the greens--nothing wrong per se, but they're slower than I'm used to. All of them in Hawaii are due to the nature of the grass. And, we wouldn't want to give them an "Eagle" on value at $160...the course would be that much better were it lower... I don't suppose they could keep it in that good of shape were that to be the case, however.
